Marriott EV Charging -- First Generation That Needs Improvement
I own a Tesla Model Y and as I travel, I like to check to see if a hotel has a destination or supercharger. I am planning a trip to Newport Rhode Island and wanted to stay at a Marriott property. Marriott has added an EV Charging option in its amenities section. As a result, 41 hotel options dropped to 5.
I also learned that some Marriott properties charge for the charging station. For example, the Newport Marriott and Spa charges $53 a night for its charging station. A comment is that is a ridiculous amount. Other hotels listed as having EV charging capabilities do not provide any further information about costs or number of charging stations.
I also checked hotels in the Boca Raton area and none are listed as having EV chargers. Even though the Marriott Boca Raton at Boca Center does not report having EV charging stations, I stayed there and charged by Tesla at one of their charging stations. My conclusion is that Marriott is still working on collecting and disclosing EV capabilities on its website.
You should call your hotel to confirm whether they have EV charging stations and if there is any cost associated with them.
